Taoyuan City has been proactive in participating in international carbon reduction and environmental sustainability organizations.

June 6 – 14, 2015  Participated in the 6th Resilient Cities Congress (2015 ICLEI: Resilient Cities). The delegation not only joined the Congress meeting held in Bonn of Germany, but also headed to Frankfurt to visit low-carbon transportation and education sites.
November 30 – December 11, 2015 Participated in the 21st Session of the Conference of the Parties (COP21) of United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), through which the City managed to publish “Taoyuan Aerotropolis – The Conflict between Economic and Environment” on December 10 (time in France) to show the world Taoyuan’s efforts in climate change policymaking.
March 2016 Joined the world’s largest climate change city cooperation alliance: Compact of Mayors (COM).
April 2016 Filled out the carbon disclosure questionnaire for cities under Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP) for the first time; and was recognized as the top 5 best new CDP cities in 2016 by CDP.
November 2016 Three out of Taoyuan City’s climate solutions submitted to C40 Cities Awards in 2016 were selected and published in 2016 Cities100. Launched by C40’s partner Sustainia, Cities 100 selects the 100 best climate solutions from cities throughout the world and publishes these best solutions into a periodical each year.
November 12 – 18, 2016 Participated in the 22nd session of the Conference of the Parties (COP 22) of UNFCCC. Taoyuan City also participated in the Low-Emissions Solutions Conference (LESC) held nearby the conference between November 14 and 16.
September 2017 Two out of Taoyuan City’s climate solutions submitted to C40 Cities Awards in 2017 were selected and published in 2017 Cities100.
November 9 – 17, 2017 Participated in the Conference of the Parties of UNFCCC for the third year (the 23rd session; COP23). Participated in Climate Summit for Local and Regional Leaders held by ICLEI; and published “Taoyuan City’s Climate Change Strategy” on November 14 (time in Germany). The delegation also participated in Sustainable Innovation Forum 2017 (SIF17), Global Renewable Energy Forum, electric car themed tours and other meetings and activities around the conference. 
February 2018 Taoyuan City was in full compliance with “Global Covenant of Mayors for Climate & Energy (GCoM)” standards (the integrated standards of Global Alliance of Mayors and European Covenant of Mayors); and received all four compliance badges.
June 17 – 23, 2018 Participated in the ICLEI World Congress, held every three years, for the first time; and published “Taoyuan City’s Low-Carbon Green City Development Strategy” in the session of CityTalk on June 20 (time in Montreal, Canada). In the meeting, Taoyuan City had the opportunity to exchange ideas with the current ICLEI president and Secretary General as well as representatives of worldwide cities. Besides, the delegation also participated in the mobile workshops held by the Congress and managed to visit local communities.
September 16-19, 2018 Attracted by Taoyuan’s sharing at ICLEI in June, Suwon City (Korea) invited Taoyuan to attend the 2018 (3rd) Suwon Forum on Asian Human City to share the City’s experiences in building a human society in the session of Mayors’ Talks. Taoyuan City not only interacted with representatives of Asian cities during the Q&A session, but also completed municipal visits arranged by Suwon, such as visiting the communities that hold grand ecological and transportation events; and the examples of activating the use of historical and cultural heritage. 
January 17, 2019 Japan’s Institute for Global Environmental Strategies (IGES) visited Department of Environmental Protection, Taoyuan City Government. The delegation of IGES not only exchanged ideas with Taoyuan regarding the City’s low-carbon green city promotion policy face-to-face, but also paid on-site visits to Taoyuan City Transportation Control Center.
June 26-28, 2019 Led by Deputy Secretary General Chiu, the delegation of Taoyuan City participated in the 10th Resilient Cities Congress (2019 ICLEI: Resilient Cities). Not only was the Deputy Secretary General Chiu invited to attend the Mayors’ Lunch Banquet and UN Climate Change Conference in Bonn, but also the delegation proactively held a closed-door meeting for city talks.
December 4-13, 2019 Participated in the 25th Session of the Conference of the Parties (COP 25) of UNFCCC. The City Government proactively held an ecology and logistics community city-talk meeting nearby the conference. Besides, the delegation was invited to participate in the “Nationally Determined Contribution (NDC) and City Climate Action of Asia” meeting held by National Institute for Environmental Studies (NIES, Japan), Institute for Global Environmental Strategies (IGES, Japan) and Japan's Ministry of the Environment. At the meeting, Taoyuan City published “Taoyuan City’s SDGs Promotion Results”.
November 12, 2021 The COP26 took place from 31 October to 12 November 2021 in Glasgow. It brought together governments from around the world to achieve net-zero emissions by 2050. Meanwhile, it also took coordinated action to protect community, natural habitat, fund mobilization, and cooperation. The deputy mayor of Taoyuan, Gao An-Bang, led a team to participate in and share the policies of net-zero emissions by 2050 to international. We actively had lots of international communications with, and besides, Taoyuan's effort had earned internationally recognition at the COP26.
May 9-15, 2022 Because the COVID-19 pandemic was lifted lockdowns in international, Taoyuan made a significant progress in city's diplomacy. The deputy mayor of Taoyuan, Li Sian-Ming, led a team to participate in the sustainable city forum at Grenoble in France and shared the expericence about sustainable development and eco-logistics with 10 countries and 13 cities in the whole world.
May 25-27, 2022 Taoyuan City Government put lots of effort on the city diplomacy, we were invited to go to Brno in Czech Republic. The Sister Cities Day 2022 took place from 25th to 27th of May, the department of environment protection of Taoyuan's representive was Ms. Yeh Meng-Fen, who led a team to participate in. The aim was to connect all sister cities and established a communication platform to solve topical issues in Brno city.
